Fashion Paradox fashion show

The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Fashion Paradox fashion show. The Fall/Winter 2007 From boxing to Rainbow Brite, mysterious hooded figures to flower petals…The Art Institute ’s student show was a Fashion Paradox indeed! The show featured the final projects of bachelor fashion design students in women’s wear and children’s wear. Each of the ten designers brought something totally unique, and the result was positively amazing. Each collection had a theme or inspiration behind it, and although they were very different from each other, the designers used their talents to update, or put an innovative twist on the garments in a ground-breaking way.

The colors, textiles, silhouettes, and methods of constructions meshed with the inspiration behind each collection were truly something to behold. All of the blood (what designer hasn’t pricked themselves on a needle???), sweat, and tears has come together, with each student given the chance to display their work with a grand finale that is the culmination of years of work.

The show itself was put on by Ms. Pierre’s Fashion Show Production class. She and her students did a fabulous job planning and organizing the show, as well as executing gorgeous hair and make up. The technical side of the show was handled by Art Institute students in various departments, such as Video Production. And of course, Fashion chair Mr. West was as debonair as ever as the shows emcee.

The music and models worked well, reflecting the designs (Jasmine Harris’ boxing inspired line was backed by the legendary Rocky theme song, with the models throwing out a jab here and there).

Overall, the show was an adrenaline fueled whirlwind of color and textures. There is no doubt that each of the graduating students will make a mark with their inventive talents …here’s hoping the fashion world is ready for them!

Very special thanks to Ms. Pierre-whose talent, drive, encouragement, and most of all PATIENCE made the show a smashing success! We love you Ms. P!
