Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week

The stunning W Fort Lauderdale opened its doors on Friday Oct. 29th and Saturday Oct. 30th to a very fashionable crowd to present the first ever Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week. Looks form headliner designer Carolina Herrera walked down the runway on Friday’s VIP opening event along with The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale alumni Eduardo de las Casas, Rosita Hurtado, Jacinta Ligon, and well-known designers Paul Raymond and Ellie Tahari.

As guests arrived into the ballroom and were escorted to their seats, Paul Raymond’s models took on the catwalk to showcase the designs in a live-installation exhibition.

Three of The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale’s alumni showcased their designs during this stylish production. Eduardo de las Casas opened the show with his latest eveningwear collection. Jacinta Ligon’s looks stunned the crowd with her abstract and futuristic designs that are meant to be for the “extraordinary woman.” Finally Rosita Hurtado’s elegant and whimsical gowns flowed down the runway representing elegancy and femininity. Also collections by established designers such as Ellie Tahari and headliner designer Carolina Herrera wrapped up this fashionable night event.

The night came to a finale with models and designers being photographed and interviewed on FFW’s press wall. The following day, doors opened at 1pm to welcome a very exclusive crowd who were there to enjoy a gourmet luncheon accompanied by a fashion runway event. Lines such as LF, Liquid Yacht Wear, Lilly Pulitzer, and Custo Barcelona were featured during this graceful afternoon.

Without the sleepless nights from The FFW Committee, fashion volunteers, the Fashion Honors Group, and without our sponsors such as Global Fashion Agency, The W Fort Lauderdale, Ferrari Masserati Fort Lauderdale, 1160 Hair, Glam Academy and Winterfest Boat Parade, this event wouldn’t have been anywhere near the success that it was.

As we now have our own Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week, AIFL alumni and local talent are gifted a stage to exhibit their lines and designs along with established and world famous designers. Fashion Week has entered Fort Lauderdale and this is just the beginning!

execute a pink garment to be showcased and evaluated by four local
celebrity judges. The winning team of the competition; Mitchell
Perry, 6th quarter Bachelor of Fashion Design student, and Emily
Gould, Associate of Fashion Design Alumni, became inspired by the pink
breast cancer ribbon to create the garment. Both designers and model
