JAFCO and AIFL

On May 3rd, 2012 the Fashion Honors Group produced a fashion show at The Polo Club in Boca Raton, for the JAFCO (Jewish Adoption & Foster Care Options) annual fundraiser luncheon. This show featured 12 Art Institute designers, as well as using five adult models and seven child models. Over 400 people were in attendance. The audience enjoyed socializing while having lunch minutes before the show, as the models waited backstage eager to show off their looks. The fashion show was so pleasurable that members of the audience wanted to purchase a few of the garments after the show was finished. Allison Chen, project manager of the event, designed five clutches featuring Swarovski crystals that were modeled in the show and auctioned off immediately after the show, raising over $3,500 for JAFCO. JAFCO is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services to abused and neglected children in South Florida. This event was a fun, upbeat, and extremely successful!

To all. Just wanted to send a quick note to thank you all again for the AMAZING SHOW!! It was a huge hit – as you know, and we were blown away with the success of the live auction as well!!!

Your professionalism, enthusiasm, responsiveness and of course, the creative talent, was remarkable.

It was a great pleasure to work with you and I hope that we will get to do so again in the future…yes, Chris and I are chairing the event again next year, and maybe we could brainstorm something for next year that would be fresh and fun. Please send our regards to the entire team at the Art Institute and those gorgeous models (and unbelievably adorable kids!!!)

Thanks again, from the Crazy Co-Chairs
Marci and Chris, JAFCO

Earth Day

On April 14th 2012, the fashion honor students at the Art Institute at Ft Lauderdale put together a fashion show for the Sunrise’s Earth Day Festival. The Sunrise Earth Day festival was held at the Sunrise Sanctuary and started at 10am and latest till 4pm. Fashion design students were asked to redesign and construct garments from recycled goods selected from Goodwill. After our fashion show took place a $100 gift card to Joann’s fabric was given to Mercedes Brunelli, the designer that did the best job creating a garment made out of ties and bed sheets. Our project manager for this event was Emily Freedman who received praise from the city of sunrise coordinator. Aveda provided the makeup for the models and gave gift bags filled with samples for the models.

Good Afternoon Andre,
Hope all is well. I just wanted to say thank you very much for sponsorship and partnership. On behalf of the City of Sunrise, thank you for making the 4th Annual Earth Day Festival a huge success. Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale was of not only an integral part of the fashion show but the was an essential part of all the great highlights the event had to offer. We were pleased with the warm reception that the community had from your sponsorship.
Also Emily Freedman did an excellent job! This was the first year we had rain and she was able to keep the models in order, the designers motivated and keep the fashion show moving. She handled everything profession, with grace and stride. Bravo to your team!
Andre, in the coming months we will begin the planning for the 5th Annual Earth Day Festival and will be posting sponsorship information on the Earth Day Website. We are looking to you again as an essential component of the event festivities and hope you will become one of our preferred sponsors.
We appreciate your partnership and look forward to working with you soon.
